Affordable Economy Flight Tickets to Return for Christmas and New Year After School Holidays

The government will again provide a 100% Value Added Tax borne by the Government (PPN DTP) incentive for domestic economy class flight tickets during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays. This is being done to make it easier for the public to travel at more affordable prices.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi stated that during the school holiday period, the 100% PPN DTP subsidy for scheduled economy class flights was provided from 24 June to 5 July 2026 with a budget of Rp472.5 billion for 2.3 million passengers.

Meanwhile, for the Christmas and New Year holidays, the subsidy has a budget of Rp722 billion targeting 3.7 million passengers.

Dudy also said the government is providing transport fare discounts of up to 30% for trains and Pelni ships during the school holidays and Nataru. For the school holiday period, a 30% fare incentive is given for train tickets from 20 June to 5 July 2026. A 30% discount on the base fare is also provided for Pelni ships from 20 June to 15 August 2026.

There is also a free port service charge for ASDP ferries from 20 June to 5 July 2026. The total budget allocation is Rp190.5 billion with a base target of 3 million passengers.

For the Christmas and New Year period, a 30% incentive and discount is provided for trains from 22 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. A 30% discount on the base fare is also given for Pelni ships from 17 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, along with free ASDP port services from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027.

The total budget allocation is Rp161.4 billion with a base target of 2.8 million passengers. Dudy stated the total budget provided by the government for these two periods is Rp1.54 trillion.
