Affected by Padel Court Explosion, Primary School Students in Bogor Switch to Online Learning

An explosion that occurred at a padel court in Ciangsana Village, Gunungputri Subdistrict, Bogor, West Java, has impacted the SDN 03 Ciangsana school building. As a result, the school has implemented online learning. “After I confirmed with the Education Department and the Subdistrict Education Section Head, they instructed temporary online learning for two days,” said the Head of SDN 3 Ciangsana, Hermansyah, on Thursday (9/4/2026). Based on the information he received, he stated that the explosion originated from the cafe at the padel court. Meanwhile, the school experienced damage at several points. “The impacts on us include, first, the school fence that was destroyed, then the field is cracked, some classroom windows are broken, and some walls are cracked,” he explained. According to him, the padel court management is ready to compensate for the damages caused. An evaluation will also be conducted to prevent similar incidents from recurring. “The padel side mentioned earlier in the conversation that they want to move the canteen to the side so it’s not close to the school,” he said. Suspected Cause of the Explosion Previously, the Bogor Regency BPBD revealed the suspected cause of the explosion at a padel court in Ciangsana Village, Gunungputri Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, West Java (Jabar). The explosion was initially triggered by a gas cylinder leak. “It is suspected that there was a gas cylinder leak in the canteen kitchen area of the padel court,” said the Emergency and Logistics Staff of the Bogor Regency BPBD, Jalaluddin. The gas leak then triggered an explosion at the incident site. As a result, several buildings at the primary school (SD) next to the padel court experienced damage. “The leak triggered an explosion that caused damage to the padel court canteen and the fence wall of SDN 03 Ciangsana,” he clarified.
