Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) carried out the second phase of relocation for 128 family heads (KK) affected by the opening of new cemetery land in Pegadungan and Kamal sub-districts, Kalideres district, on Monday. West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the relocation is part of the process to restore the function of land owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government according to its designated purpose, namely a public cemetery. “Today, we are carrying out the second phase relocation for affected residents, who have previously gone through data collection, socialisation, and deliberation processes,” said Iin in her speech at the Tegal Alur Christian Public Cemetery (TPU), West Jakarta, on Monday. The number of residents relocated in this second phase totals 128 KK or 606 people, with details of 103 KK from Kamal sub-district and 25 KK from Pegadungan sub-district. Of the total 128 KK, 17 KK were relocated to several rental apartments (rusunawa), while the other 111 KK carried out independent relocation. Some of the rusunawa serving as relocation sites include Rusunawa PIK Pegadungan, Rusunawa Pesakih, Rusunawa Tegal Alur, Rusunawa Rawa Buaya, and Rusunawa Nagrak. “We hope that with this placement in apartments, you can enjoy a better living environment, with easier access to public facilities such as education, health, and transportation,” said Iin. As is known, the 65-hectare land in both sub-districts will be used as the location for a new cemetery, given the limited land in Jakarta. Moreover, TPU Tegal Alur in Kalideres is the only one in West Jakarta that can still accept new burials. Based on data from the West Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Sub-Department at the end of September 2025, TPU Tegal Alur still provides 1,314 ready-to-use grave plots, with details of 1,250 plots in the Muslim Block and 64 plots in the Christian Block. Besides TPU Tegal Alur, other TPUs in West Jakarta now implement a stacked grave system.
