Affected by Mount Anak Krakatau Ash, Schools in Bogor Implement Distance Learning Until Tomorrow

The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab Bogor) is implementing distance learning (PJJ) for schools across its territory. The measure comes in response to the impact of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

“The Governor of West Java has already given instructions to the Bogor Regency Government, and we are implementing a policy on Monday, 7 September 2026 until 8 September 2026, which we will re-evaluate in light of future developments,” said Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto on Monday (7/9/2026).

“We have issued a circular advising all schools to conduct learning through online or distance learning systems,” he continued.

Rudy said that pupils in Bogor Regency are the nation’s future assets, and therefore the impact of the volcanic ash on them must be minimised.

“Our children, the most important assets of Bogor Regency and of the Indonesian nation, are staying in their respective homes to minimise exposure to the volcanic ash affecting Bogor Regency,” he explained.

He also requested that all regional apparatus organisations and teaching staff report to their respective schools. Rudy invited them to help clean up their schools.

“We have also asked all Bogor Regency regional apparatus organisations, head teachers and teachers to remain present at their schools on Monday and Tuesday, so that we can carry out clean-up work together, assisted by the entire Bogor Regency local government apparatus,” he said.

In addition, he stated that the Health Office would distribute masks to residents carrying out outdoor activities. He invited private sector participation to minimise the impact of the eruption’s volcanic ash.

“The Health Office will optimise the free distribution of masks to motorcyclists across Bogor Regency. Bogor is quite extensive, Bogor is quite large, and we are inviting active private sector participation to directly help residents affected in the Bogor Regency area,” he concluded.
