Affected by Becakayu Toll Road, Bekasi City Gate Already in Disrepair to Be Demolished

Bekasi – The Bekasi City Gate on HM Joyomartono Road, RT 003/RW 021, Margahayu Ward, Bekasi Timur Subdistrict, is scheduled to be demolished starting Tuesday (21/4/2026).

The Head of the Bekasi City Public Works and Water Resources Department (DBMSDA), Idi Sutanto, stated that the demolition is being carried out because the structure is affected by the route of the Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu Toll Road (Becakayu) project, as well as its already damaged condition which poses a potential hazard.

Idi explained that the demolition process is estimated to take around one week.

The work will be conducted at night to minimise disruptions to traffic flow.

During the demolition process, DBMSDA will coordinate with the Transportation Department to manage and engineer traffic in the surrounding area.

The demolition of this gate is also a follow-up to the request from the Becakayu Toll Road operator, PT IKKDM, which is continuing the project development.

“Now it’s still in the tender process, possibly starting by the end of this year (construction),” he said.
