TNI Colonel Cba Harfan Bahar, serving as a Senior Officer of the XXI/Radin Inten Lampung Regional Military Command, underwent his first trial at the High Military Court 1 Medan this week. He is accused of using crystal methamphetamine (sabu-sabu) and ecstasy obtained from Januwati, a drug supplier who is also his girlfriend.

In the indictment read by Military Auditor, Navy Colonel (H) Sunariyadi, it was stated that the case began when Colonel Harfan Bahar was stationed in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, in 2014. The defendant met Januwati in November 2014 at the Win One Lounge, a nightclub in South Pontianak.

During their relationship, the defendant and Januwati frequently engaged in sexual relations. Although Harfan was reassigned to Jakarta in 2016, the relationship continued, with his partner frequently visiting him in the capital.

On 15 February 2026, the defendant contacted Januwati via WhatsApp to order methamphetamine and ecstasy pills, subsequently transferring Rp4,400,000. Januwati then arranged for the drugs to be sent to Jakarta via Super Air Jet flight IU 697, disguised as a package of souvenirs from Pontianak.

On 16 February 2026, Sergeant Ramli delivered the package to the airline’s check-in staff using a passenger booking code. Upon learning the package was arriving, Colonel Harfan contacted the Soekarno-Hatta Airport protocol office, requesting that the package from Kalimantan be secured and forwarded to Bengkulu.

However, security official Cece Sulaiman received a report from Avsec operators that X-ray equipment had detected a liquid resembling oil, leading to the package being rejected. Upon inspection, the package was found to contain various items, including small bottles of liquid and hair dye, but hidden behind the inner lining of the box were small plastic clips containing crystal methamphetamine and four ecstasy pills.

Following the discovery, officials from the XII/Tpr Military Police Command conducted weighing and sample testing, confirming the presence of narcotics. Subsequent interrogations revealed that the defendant had placed five separate orders for drugs from his girlfriend between December 2025 and 16 February 2026. The defendant claimed the drugs were for personal use and not for distribution.

The Military Auditor stated that the defendant is charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Indonesian Narcotics Law (Law No. 35 of 2009), or alternatively under Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a of the same law. The next hearing is scheduled for 13 October 2026 to hear witness testimonies.
