AFFA Holds Egg Exhibition at TIM, Highlighting Animal Welfare

Before eggs reach the dining table to be served, the underlying production issues will be a primary focus of the ‘Beyond the Cage’ immersive exhibition at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, from 5–7 September 2026. Through artworks, stories, and immersive experiences, the exhibition organised by Act For Farmed Animals (AFFA) brings issues that have long remained hidden from consumers into the public sphere.

Visitors are invited to take a closer look at how egg production systems operate before products reach dining tables, restaurants, hotels, bakeries, and various food businesses. Laying hens live with extremely limited space for movement. “Eggs are very close to daily life, but the systems behind their production are almost never seen by consumers,” said Elfha Shaverc, campaign leader of Act For Farmed Animals, in a press release in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/9/2026).

The exhibition also features works by Inkomee. The event is expected to bring together the public, artists, media, advocacy groups, and business actors in a broader conversation regarding how food is produced and how these systems can change.

“Beyond the Cage aims to bring these issues into the public space. As the community gains a deeper understanding of how eggs are produced, we hope the conversation regarding chicken welfare and corporate responsibility within the supply chain will also strengthen,” said Elfha.
