PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBNI) has issued an apology regarding the embezzlement case involving funds from the Aek Nabara Parish Credit Union by its former Aek Nabara Branch Cash Office Head, Andi Hakim Febriansyah, amounting to Rp28 billion.

“BNI also extends its apologies to Catholics throughout Indonesia, especially the Aek Nabara Parish Credit Union congregation and the public, for the discomfort experienced during this period. We understand the concerns and impacts felt by those affected by this incident,” stated BNI’s Director of Human Capital and Compliance, Mudani Herlambang, during a press conference at Graha BNI in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

BNI also expressed appreciation and apologies for the patience and cooperation from all parties throughout the process. “Furthermore, we view this as a collective effort to resolve the issue properly,” he added.

He emphasised that BNI’s focus is to ensure the resolution proceeds smoothly and provides certainty for all parties.

Today, BNI has returned the funds by transferring Rp21,257,360,600 to the Aek Nabara Parish Credit Union. This amount complements the previous repayment of Rp7 billion.

“Thus, the total funds returned reach Rp28,257,360,600, completing the fund repayment process,” he asserted.

With the fund repayment now concluded, he hopes that public trust can be maintained. This incident should serve as a shared lesson for the entire banking sector, with BNI committing to continue providing the best services to the Indonesian public.

On the same occasion, representative of the Aek Nabara Credit Union, Natalia Situmorang, expressed appreciation to BNI and the assisting parties, including Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Dasco, for their attention to the case.

“We believe and trust that this experience becomes a lesson for us all, for us, and we are confident it becomes a source of blessing for everyone,” she stated.

She said that they believe and trust that banking institutions are a comfortable place to store money. “Even though sometimes we face difficulties, this is a moment for us to learn, especially to be further educated in the banking usage process,” she concluded.
