Advocate Hendarsam Marantoko Appointed as Director General of Immigration

Advocate Hendarsam Marantoko has been appointed as Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas). Hendarsam will be inaugurated in April 2026.

“Just wait for the inauguration,” Immigration Minister Agus Andrianto told detikcom when asked to confirm Hendarsam’s selection as Director General of Immigration on Thursday (12 March 2026).

Previously, the Head of the Centre for Data, Information and Public Communication of the Imipas Ministry, M. Akbar Hadiprabowo, announced that a Presidential Decree (Keppres) concerning the appointment of senior-level officials within the Ministry of Imipas had been issued. The decree includes the specification of the Director General of Immigration position.

“The appointment of the Director General of Immigration has been formalised through a Presidential Decree. With this Presidential Decree in place, the first phase of selection will not be continued,” Akbar explained on Tuesday (10 March).

Akbar noted that this is in accordance with applicable regulations, as the President is authorised to issue such a decree. The purpose, he continued, is to ensure continuity of leadership and the execution of institutional duties and functions.

“This appointment represents the government’s authority in ensuring continuity of leadership and the execution of the institution’s duties and functions,” Akbar clarified.
