Advocacy team reveals indications of 16 perpetrators in Andrie Yunus case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has revealed indications of involvement by numerous parties in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, based on preliminary investigation results that are still being developed.

Andrie Yunus’s legal counsel, Airlangga Julio, stated that the team has identified at least 16 people suspected of direct involvement in the incident.

“At least in the Andrie Yunus case, there are 16 perpetrators that we have successfully identified,” he said during a press conference at Komnas HAM in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He explained that the identification not only covers the number of perpetrators but also their respective roles during the incident.

“This does not include those outside of these 16 people, for example, those not captured by our surveillance, nor does it include command accountability,” he added.

According to him, these findings indicate the possibility of a wider network, including parties playing roles beyond the field perpetrators.

“This does not include parties that may have provided the acid, facilities, and so on,” he further stated.

Airlangga also revealed that from the preliminary identification, there are indications of civilian involvement, which strengthens the importance of handling the case through general courts.

“From those 16 people, there is at least civilian involvement in it,” he said.

The advocacy team has submitted the investigation developments to law enforcement authorities and requested a special case exhibition to present additional evidence.

This step is expected to strengthen the ongoing investigation process by the authorities, while also helping to uncover the entire chain of events comprehensively.

TAUD assesses that a thorough disclosure of all perpetrators, including possible command structures, is key to ensuring the legal process runs transparently and provides justice for the victim.
