Advancing Green Logistics: Businesses Need Regulatory Certainty
Global commitments to reduce carbon emissions and limit the effects of climate change are driving the adoption of green logistics across the industrial and logistics ecosystem.
Paxel chief executive Zaldy Ilham Masita said green logistics should be a roadmap for the logistics industry, given the sector’s significant contribution to carbon emissions. Decarbonisation efforts therefore need to cover the entire logistics ecosystem, from packaging and storage to the distribution and production of goods.
Paxel has been pursuing green logistics for the past five years, including through the use of electric motorbikes and the development of its ‘Paxel Recycle’ product, which encourages customers to collect packaging and send it to Paxel’s waste bank. However, businesses need government support to speed up adoption, particularly through consistent policies, financing and investment, as well as incentives to foster the sector’s development.
What are the challenges and prospects for developing green logistics, and which sectors could drive growth in the logistics business? Maria Katarina discusses these questions with Paxel chief executive Zaldy Ilham Masita on Focus on Infra, CNBC Indonesia.
