Advanced Technology: PHR Controls Oil and Gas Activities from a Single Room

Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) President Director Muhamad Arifin has outlined a number of the company’s strategies to drive national oil and gas production. PHR is currently exploring the potential of Non-Conventional Oil and Gas (MNK) in the Rokan Working Area through the Gulamo and Kelok wells. This strategy aligns with PHR’s efforts to maintain production and counteract the natural decline of mature oil wells. Furthermore, PHR is developing a domestically produced Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) technique aimed at maximising oil production by up to an additional 20%. PHR has been conducting a Pertamina injection at the Minas field in area A since 2025, which has increased production by 2,800 BOPD and is expected to reach 70,000 BOPD by 2028. Since 2021, PHR has continued to transform the use of technology in oil and gas operations through a Digital Innovation Center (DAS) capable of controlling activities carried out by 44,000 workers across 17 districts in Riau. PHR also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the energy transition and energy self-sufficiency with an aggressive, massive, and evolving strategy. One of these steps is implemented by adhering to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles by reducing CO2 carbon emissions.
