Bekasi – In anticipation of a surge in vehicles during the Eid holiday exodus, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk has prepared various technologies to ensure that traffic flow remains smooth and safe.

The utilisation of advanced technology is centred on a modern monitoring system that enables managers to observe toll road conditions in real time. Jasa Marga’s Chief Executive Officer, Rivan A Purwantono, stated that the traffic control centre operated by Jasa Marga is currently one of the most comprehensive.

One of the technologies deployed is radar to monitor vehicle movement. This technology is installed at various points to ensure that the traffic data obtained is more accurate. “To ensure accuracy, we have radar systems. More than 283 radars are distributed across the network, and not just on toll roads but also on arterial roads. Why is this? Because vehicles entering the toll roads must also be identified,” said Rivan.

“We have also upgraded cameras, with some using Intelligent Traffic Analysis. This directly counts the number of vehicles in each category – roughly vehicle classes 1, 2, and 3 – so we can monitor capacity,” Rivan explained.

Information about road conditions is also communicated directly to road users through digital information boards along the toll road sections. This system is known as Dynamic Message Sign or DMS.

“We also ensure that all functions are properly maintained, including water level sensors. These sensors monitor water levels across sections where rivers pass. If there is a rise, we must determine whether to activate pumps or arrange additional pumping assistance. We must prevent water from entering the toll road sections,” said Rivan.

The technology also helps managers monitor the condition of rest areas along the toll roads. If parking capacity is full, drivers are provided with information to proceed to the next rest area.

All traffic condition information is also accessible to users through the Travoy application and information boards along the toll roads.

Through the utilisation of radar, intelligent cameras, flood sensors, and digital information systems, Jasa Marga hopes that the Eid holiday travel this year will be safer, more orderly, and smoother for toll road users.
