Adrianus to take on Amando here

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation lightweight champion Adrianus Taroreh will take on Mexico's Amando Ignacio Yaco Me in a non-title bout here on Sunday.

However, the hard-jabbing champion will fight the Mexican in the light welterweight, not lightweight division.

Adrianus now weighs 63.5kg, just the right weight for the light welterweight division after struggling hard for some time to put it on. His former weight was 61.2kg.

Adrianus' coach, Joutje Mada, said he no longer worried about his protg's endurance. Recent workouts showed his stamina has improved, Joutje said in Manado, North Sulawesi, Antara reported.

Adrianus, a native of Manado, has recently rejoined his former boxing camp, Bian Boxing Camp.

Joutje added that he was giving Adrianus special training to make him more prepared technically and tactically.

Adrianus won the OPBF crown over South Korea's Jung Jin-oh in January last year. So far, he has defended his title twice.

In Surabaya, East Java, national champion Ajib Albarado will try to seize the World Boxing Federation welterweight champion title from Kenny Five of the United States in February next year.

Ajib was originally scheduled to take on Kenny last October in Medan, North Sumatra. But the American champion developed a toothache and the bout was canceled. (arf)
