Adopting Top US Education System to Prepare Globally Competent, Work-Ready Graduates

Universitas Esa Unggul (UEU) has officially expanded its academic reach by launching its fourth campus, named the International College, at the Global Innovation Hub (GIH) in South Jakarta. This modern, urban-concept campus is presented through a strategic global collaboration via the ‘Powered by Arizona State University (ASU)’ initiative. This step marks a new milestone for higher education in Indonesia, delivering curricula, facilities, and international academic pathways directly connected to the most innovative university in the United States. UEU Rector Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja stated that the opening of the new campus in South Jakarta is a long-term commitment by UEU to boost the quality of local talent so they can compete on the global stage. ‘Through our collaboration with Cintana Education and Arizona State University, we are making world-class education more accessible in Indonesia. This step expands global learning opportunities for Indonesian students, including seamless academic pathways and international experience with ASU,’ Arief said at the launch ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday. UEU International College has arranged study schemes designed to shorten the study time for students wishing to continue their education abroad through several international pathways: The Accelerated Master’s Programme (4+1) allows students to complete their Bachelor’s degree in Indonesia and then directly continue to a Master’s degree at Arizona State University in just one year. This pathway is open for Management, Mass Communication, and Industrial Engineering study programmes. The Double Degree Pathway (3+1) has students studying for three years at UEU and one year at ASU’s campus in the US, or via flexible online learning, with graduates earning two degrees simultaneously. This programme is initially open for the Information Technology major. UEU Postgraduate Certificate credits can be directly transferred to a Master’s programme of choice abroad. ASU Vice President for Global Academic Initiatives, Julia Rosen, assessed this collaboration as a major breakthrough for shaping adaptive future leaders. ‘This model is designed to shape globally competitive graduates by creating new pathways for high-achieving students to begin their studies domestically and continue to an international academic level at ASU,’ Julia explained. As part of the ASU-Cintana global alliance, UEU students now automatically gain free access to various future-oriented ASU certification modules, ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) and entrepreneurship to sustainability technology. Students will also experience virtual learning led directly by global professors and industry experts from the US. UEU’s fourth campus in South Jakarta carries the physical concept of the Global Innovation Hub (GIH). The facility is designed as a collaborative educational ecosystem that bridges academic space with the real needs of the industrial sector. To support learning comfort, GIH is equipped with advanced infrastructure such as smart classrooms, integrated technology laboratories, co-working spaces, and an integrated digital learning system focused on practical problem-solving methods. Founder and Chairman of Cintana Education, Doug Becker, added that this integration of local strengths and global innovation is a key to student readiness in facing a technology-driven workforce. ‘Through this model, students gain industry-relevant skills and international opportunities while remaining closely connected to Indonesia’s economic priorities,’ Doug concluded.
