Adopting Top US Education System to Prepare Globally Competent, Work-Ready Graduates
Universitas Esa Unggul (UEU) has officially expanded its academic reach by launching its fourth campus, named the International College, located at the Global Innovation Hub (GIH) in South Jakarta. This modern, urban-concept campus was established through a strategic global collaboration under the ‘Powered by Arizona State University (ASU)’ initiative.
This move marks a new milestone for higher education in Indonesia, introducing curricula, facilities, and international academic pathways directly connected to one of the most innovative universities in the United States. The Rector of Universitas Esa Unggul, Dr. Ir. Arief Kusuma Among Praja, stated that the opening of this new campus in South Jakarta represents UEU’s long-term commitment to boosting the quality of local talent to compete on the global stage.
“Through our collaboration with Cintana Education and Arizona State University, we are making world-class education more accessible in Indonesia. This step expands global learning opportunities for Indonesian students, including seamless academic pathways and international experiences with ASU,” said Arief during the launch ceremony in Jakarta on Thursday.
The UEU International College has designed lecture schemes intended to shorten study durations for students wishing to pursue education abroad through several international pathways:
Accelerated Master’s Programme (4+1): Students can complete their Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Indonesia and proceed directly to a Master’s degree (S2) at Arizona State University in just one year. This pathway is available for Management, Mass Communication, and Industrial Engineering programmes.
Double Degree Pathway (3+1): Students spend three years of study at UEU and one year at an ASU campus in the United States, or through flexible online learning methods. Graduates will earn two degrees simultaneously. This programme is initially offered for Information Technology.
UEU Postgraduate Certificate: Academic credits obtained from this certification programme can be transferred directly to chosen Master’s programmes abroad.
Julia Rosen, Vice President of ASU Global Academic Initiatives, described this collaboration as a major breakthrough for producing adaptive future leaders. “This model is designed to shape globally competitive graduates by creating new pathways for high-achieving students to begin their studies domestically and continue to international academic levels at ASU,” explained Julia.
As part of the ASU-Cintana global alliance, UEU students will now automatically receive free access to various ASU future-ready certification modules, ranging from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and entrepreneurship to sustainability technology. Students will also experience virtual learning experiences led directly by professors and global industry experts from the US.
The fourth UEU campus in South Jakarta utilises the physical concept of the Global Innovation Hub (GIH). This facility is designed as a collaborative educational ecosystem that bridges academic spaces with the real needs of the industrial sector.
To support learning comfort, GIH is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure such as smart classrooms, integrated technology laboratories, co-working spaces, and an integrated digital learning system focused on practical problem-solving methods.
