Adjustment of Operating Hours for Sarbagita-Trans Metro Dewata Buses During Pengerupukan
The operating hours for Bus Trans Sarbagita and Trans Metro Dewata (TMD) will be adjusted during Pengerupukan or one day before Nyepi on 18 March. Operating hours for this public transport service will also be modified one day after the sacred Nyepi Day or Ngembak Geni on 20 March 2026.
Head of UPTD Trans Bali/Trans Sarbagita at the Bali Transportation Department, I Nyoman Wiratama, explained that this adjustment aims to avoid increasing vehicle volume. In particular, the Pengerupukan evening will be combined with ogoh-ogoh processions through Bali’s streets.
“Because ogoh-ogoh are predicted to be placed at the roadside and many are expected to watch,” said Wiratama to detikBali on Sunday (15/3/2026).
According to Wiratama, traffic flow on roads that serve as bus routes will be disrupted during the Pengerupukan evening. This is also based on evaluations from previous years. Meanwhile, during Ngembak Geni, buses will operate from midday onwards.
“We considered drivers who are heading to their hometowns, and some of their homes are quite far away, so they return later in the day. Roads are only opened by the traditional village at 06.00 Wita,” explained Wiratama.
“For TMD as well, we are currently arranging the final operating hours during Pengerupukan and the initial operating hours during Ngembak Geni,” he added.
