Adinata Syariah Awards 2026: Tito Urges Regional Governments to Expand Sharia Economy
Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian expressed appreciation for the holding of the Adinata Syariah Awards 2026 at the Transmedia Building, Jakarta, on Monday evening. Tito said the event could motivate regions to develop the potential of the halal industry in their respective areas. The sharia economy itself is seen as an effort to seize significant economic opportunities while adhering to the principles of pluralism and respecting all religions. The Home Affairs Minister stated that the potential of the sharia economy as an economic opportunity that can drive regional progress needs to be optimised. As the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia is considered to have enormous room to develop the halal industry. ‘The data I have obtained, for example, countries that produce halal certificates are countries that are not Muslim-majority nations. For example, China, then Brazil, then Australia,’ Tito said. The Home Affairs Minister hopes that regional governments will be increasingly spurred to develop various sharia-based economic sectors. This step is considered an important contributor to regional and national economic growth. In addition to meeting domestic market needs, opportunities for developing the sharia economy are also wide open to reach international markets, including countries in the Middle East region. ‘So that this sharia economy becomes a potential contributor to economic growth and Indonesia as a country, once again, Muslim, the largest Muslim population in the world, we have extraordinary potential,’ Tito said. The awards given by Tito to a number of outstanding regional governments were divided into three categories, namely Pioneer Sharia Schools, Muslim-Friendly Tourism, and Sharia Business Incubation. The Adinata Syariah Awards is an initiative of the National Committee for Sharia Economy and Finance together with CNN Indonesia to appreciate regional governments that have successfully demonstrated commitment, innovation, and real contributions in developing the sharia economy and finance.
