The management of Adi Soemarmo International Airport predicts that the peak of the Eid holiday exodus through air routes in 2026 will begin on 18 March 2026, three days before Eid al-Fitr (1447 H), with passenger surges estimated to reach nearly 4,000 people per day.

This prediction was announced by airport management coinciding with the opening of the Unified Air Transport Command Centre (Posko Terpadu Angkutan Udara Lebaran), which will operate from 13 to 30 March 2026. The command centre will operate for 18 days to ensure smooth flight operations during the Eid holiday exodus and return travel periods.

Hery Purwanto, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia’s branch office at Adi Soemarmo Airport, stated that all airport facilities have been confirmed as ready to handle the increased flight activity during this period. He explained that airport operations are conducted according to the 3S+1C principle: safety, security, service, and regulatory compliance. This readiness is achieved through coordination with various airport stakeholders, including airlines, aviation authorities, and security personnel.

“In implementing the Unified Easter Transport Command Centre, we continuously collaborate with all stakeholders to support smooth Eid 2026 flights and improve security, safety, and service at Adi Soemarmo Airport,” said Hery to journalists in Solo on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Airport management projects the peak outbound exodus will occur on Friday, 18 March 2026, with approximately 3,797 passengers. Meanwhile, the peak return travel is predicted for Sunday, 28 March 2026 (six days after Eid) with an estimated 4,712 passengers.

During this year’s Eid transport period, total passenger movements through Adi Soemarmo Airport are projected to reach 62,106 people. This represents approximately a 1 per cent increase compared to last year’s Eid period, which recorded 56,692 passengers.

In addition to the increase in passenger numbers, aircraft movements are also expected to rise. During the command centre period, the number of flights is estimated to reach 433 aircraft movements, approximately a 1 per cent increase compared to 2025, which recorded 424 aircraft movements.

“One factor that has the potential to drive increased passenger numbers is the airport service tariff reduction policy during the Eid period,” he noted.

This policy is provided by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia through a 50 per cent discount on airport tax for passenger aircraft services (PJP2U). The discount applies to ticket purchases from 10 February to 29 March 2026, with travel periods from 14 March to 29 March 2026.

Additionally, tariff reductions are also applied to PJP4U services, which include aircraft landing, parking, and storage fees, to support airline operations. Hery stated that this discount policy is expected to help reduce aircraft ticket prices and encourage the public to use air transport during the Eid holiday exodus.

“With the implementation of PJP2U and PJP4U discounts, this will certainly affect aircraft ticket prices. We predict passenger numbers will increase by approximately 1 per cent with a total of 62,106 passengers and 433 flight movements during the Eid period,” he said.
