Adi Soemarmo Airport Begins 24-Hour Operations to Serve Hajj
Management has confirmed that Adi Soemarmo Airport has begun full 24-hour operations during the 2026 Hajj period. In the early hours of Wednesday, 22 April 2026, Adi Soemarmo Airport departed the first flying group (kloter) of prospective Hajj pilgrims from the Solo Embarkation to Saudi Arabia.
The flight for the prospective Hajj pilgrims originating from Tegal Regency, Central Java, used a Garuda Indonesia aircraft.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at Adi Soemarmo Airport, Hery Purwanto, stated that the airport’s 24-hour operation during this Hajj period is to support Hajj flight operations. This policy is implemented through the issuance of a special Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for Hajj flights.
“We have ensured the readiness of facilities both on the airside and landside,” said Hery to reporters on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
He mentioned that for aircraft fleet operations by Garuda Indonesia airline, supported by five standby aircraft from Lion Air, San Marino, and Air Asia. He also confirmed the operational readiness of the Fast Track Makkah Route Service by Saudi Arabian immigration at the International Departure Terminal, both in terms of facilities and infrastructure.
Regarding aviation security support facilities at the Donohudan Hajj Dormitory, Hery stated that they have prepared two cabin X-ray units, two baggage X-ray units, three walk-through metal detectors (WTMD), and three hand-held metal detectors (HHMD).
“To accommodate Hajj aircraft, the airport has also prepared five parking stands, namely at Parking Stands 6, 8, 10, 11A, and 13A,” he added.
According to him, the smooth operation of Hajj services at Adi Soemarmo Airport is also inseparable from coordination with agencies and stakeholders such as the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Regional Airport Authority III, TNI, Immigration, Customs, Port Health Office, Gapura Angkasa, Garuda Indonesia, and several other agencies. “Coordination with all stakeholders is the key to smooth Hajj services,” he said.
Hery added that the pilgrims departing via Adi Soemarmo Airport come from various regions in Central Java, including Tegal Regency, Brebes Regency, Pemalang Regency, Pekalongan Regency, Batang Regency, Kendal Regency, Semarang City, up to the Solo Raya area and surroundings. “All kloters have been scheduled according to their respective origins,” he said.
In the early hours of Wednesday, the first kloter of prospective Hajj pilgrims was flown at 02:28 WIB. Hery explained that the flight used an Airbus A330-900 aircraft with flight number GIA 6101. The departure of this inaugural kloter marks the start of Phase I (embarkation) of Hajj operations at Adi Soemarmo Airport. “Phase I embarkation runs from 22 April to 21 May 2026,” he said.
In this year’s embarkation phase, continued Hery, Adi Soemarmo Airport will serve 81 flying groups with a total of 29,121 prospective Hajj pilgrims. After that, the return or debarkation phase is scheduled from 22 June to 29 June 2026. “Phase II debarkation will serve the return of Hajj pilgrims to the homeland,” he said.
