JAKARTA — The Indonesian Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto has appointed Major General Lucky Avianto as Commander of the Joint Regional Defence Command (Pangkogabwilhan) III.

Prior to his appointment as Pangkogabwilhan III Commander, Avianto served as Commander of the 24th Military Regional Command (Kodam XXIV)/Mandala Trikora. Lieutenant General Bambang Trisnohadi, who previously held the position of Pangkogabwilhan III, has been reassigned to serve as Chief of Territorial Staff (Kaster) of the Armed Forces.

According to information from the SMA Taruna Nusantara website, Avianto is a native of Jakarta, born on 2 October 1974. He is an alumnus of SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang’s first class, with specialisation in Infantry operations. Avianto subsequently graduated from the Military Academy, receiving the Adhi Makayasa distinction in 1996.

Avianto holds qualifications in the field of red beret infantry or special forces (Kopassus). He previously served as Deputy Commander for Operations at Kopassus headquarters (2015–2016) and as Assistant for Operations (2016–2017). He also held the position of Operations Assistant to the Kopassus Commander (2017–2018) and commanded Kopassus Group 1 (2018–2019).

Subsequently, he served as Assistant for Operations at the 18th Military Regional Command Kasuari (2020–2021) and as Head of the State Intelligence Agency Training Centre (2022–2023). Before his appointment as Pangkogabwilhan III Commander, Avianto served as Commander of the 24th Military Regional Command/Mandala Trikora in South Papua, a position to which he was sworn in on 10 August 2025.
