The Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Department (ESDM) of Central Java Province, Agus Sugiharto, has urged Central Java residents to practise energy saving. Nevertheless, he guaranteed that stocks of fuels, including LPG, remain sufficient. “I urge the people of Central Java in particular to remain calm, maintain conduciveness, and follow the government’s directive to save energy in all sectors, whether electricity, fuels, or gas. This must indeed be done,” said Agus on Thursday (26/3/2026). However, he assured that energy availability is still adequate, both in the electricity sector and for LPG, which is sufficient. For all types of fuels, such as Pertalite, solar, Pertamax, and others, supplies are still meeting demand,” he stated. Therefore, Agus urged the public not to engage in panic buying or spread unaccountable rumours. “So, there should be no panic buying or unaccountable issues,” he said. According to him, panic buying would only cause losses to the public. Agus also reminded that hoarding fuels and LPG constitutes a criminal act. On the other hand, Agus opined that panic buying is a form of waste in energy consumption. “The government has guaranteed and continues to strive to meet all energy needs for its people,” said Agus. Even though energy stocks and supplies are adequate, Agus still urged the public, especially Central Java residents, to practise saving. “Energy saving must be done. There should be no waste. In fact, panic buying is one form of wasteful action,” he stated.
