Ade Kunang Case: KPK Probes Procurement Process in Bekasi Regency
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is delving into the procurement processes within the Bekasi Regency Government, West Java, for the needs of investigating the alleged corruption case ensnaring inactive Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that this deepening investigation was conducted by the KPK by examining a witness with the initials HDK, a private sector party, on Thursday (9/4).
“In that examination, the investigators delved into how the procurement processes were carried out or gone through by the private sector in several projects in Bekasi Regency, where there are also allegations of conditioning to favour certain parties,” said Budi to journalists in Jakarta on Friday.
In addition, he stated that the examination was conducted to complete the investigation needs and to confirm statements already obtained by the KPK, related to the alleged receipt of money by Ade Kunang while actively serving as Bekasi Regent.
Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) and arrested ten people in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on 18 December 2025.
On 19 December 2025, the KPK revealed that eight of the ten people were brought to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta for intensive examination. Two of the eight people included Ade Kunang and his father, HM Kunang.
On the same date, the KPK announced the seizure of hundreds of millions of rupiah in the case allegedly related to bribes for projects in Bekasi Regency.
On 20 December 2025, the KPK announced Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang (ADK), the father of the Bekasi Regent who is also the Head of Sukadami Village, Cikarang Selatan Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, HM Kunang (HMK), and a private party named Sarjan (SRJ) as suspects in the alleged bribery case.
The KPK stated that Ade Kuswara and HM Kunang are suspects for alleged bribe recipients, while Sarjan is a suspect for alleged bribe giver.
