Social media activist Ade Armando has announced his resignation as a politician from the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) following his legal case with Jusuf Kalla (JK) over alleged incitement and hate speech.

Ade held a press conference at the PSI central executive board office and officially resigned as a cadre on Tuesday (5/5).

“I request permission; through this press conference, I state that I am resigning from PSI,” Ade said in his statement.

On that occasion, he admitted that he did not want his legal case to impact the party. Although not the first time, this legal case has gone too far in dragging the party and could affect electability in the 2029 elections.

“This time the atmosphere is a bit different. It seems like for the first time, my case has been reported in a massive way. For example, there are 40 Islamic organisations or figures under Mr Din Syamsuddin, if I’m not mistaken, who came to the police and reported me,” Ade stated.

Personally, Ade admitted that legal cases are not new to him. However, the attack on PSI this time can no longer be tolerated. Even, the case indirectly mentioned could involve the seventh President, Joko Widodo.

Therefore, Ade admitted he would not mind being brought face-to-face with JK to discuss the case, including apologising to the Muslim and Christian communities over allegations of religious defamation.

“If I am brought face-to-face with Mr JK, I would be willing. Or if I have to apologise to the Muslim community, for example, or the Christian community, I am willing, but I will say that I never incited division, I never insulted religion. But it keeps being repeated,” he said.

Nevertheless, Ade emphasised that his resignation decision was not because he had issues with PSI. He said the resignation was done to protect the party.

“Like, people will make it difficult for PSI’s work ahead to promote the party in various places ahead of, not ahead of, but towards the 2029 elections,” he said.

Ade Armando and Permadi Arya were reported to Polda Metro Jaya regarding alleged incitement and provocation stemming from excerpts of JK’s sermon while preaching at the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Mosque some time ago.

The report was filed by the Maluku Advocacy Profession Alliance (APAM) and registered under number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.

“We visited Polda Metro Jaya to file a police report on the alleged criminal acts of incitement and provocation suspected to have been committed by brothers Ade Armando and Permadi Arya through social media,” said APAM representative and reporter Paman Nurlette to journalists on Monday (20/4).

A similar report was submitted by 40 Islamic mass organisations united under the Alliance for Religious Harmony.

They officially reported Ade Armando, PSI Secretary Grace Natalie, and content creator Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda to Bareskrim Polri.

Representative of LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, stated that the reporting was related to the polemic narratives included in each of their posts about excerpts of the video sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), at UGM Mosque while explaining the conflicts in Poso and Ambon.

The report was received and registered under number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 May 2026.

He detailed that the basis of the report related to Ade Armando’s post about the video excerpt of JK’s sermon on Cokro TV on 9 April 2026.

Similar posts, he said, were uploaded by Permadi Arya on his social media on 12 April 2026. Then, Grace Natalie posted on her social media on 13 April 2026.

“There are narratives built where there is an incomplete video presented to the public, namely a video excerpt, and narratives are constructed that lead to perspectives or conclusions that are not complete in society,” said Gurun Arisastra to journalists at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).
