Jakarta (ANTARA) - Three additional buses have been prepared at Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta to serve homecoming travellers during the peak period of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus.

Kampung Rambutan Terminal head Revi Zulkarnain said the additional buses are intended to serve travellers heading to popular destinations such as Malang, Yogyakarta, and Wonosobo.

“Indeed, for popular destinations, especially long-distance ones, and also nearby popular destinations like Central Java, there are additional support buses, particularly for destinations like Wonosobo, Yogyakarta, and then Malang,” Revi told reporters on Wednesday.

He conveyed that the additional buses will be operated if the regular bus fleet can no longer accommodate the travellers wishing to return to their hometowns for Eid.

“We are still monitoring the regular buses. After the regular buses are fully booked, then we will use the support buses,” he said.

A total of 4,059 passengers were recorded departing from Kampung Rambutan Terminal on 17 March 2026.

On Wednesday, up to 09:00 WIB, there were already 2,139 people who departed using buses from the terminal.

“It is estimated that the peak occurred yesterday or today. We are waiting for today; if today is higher than yesterday, it can be confirmed that the peak is today, H-3, 18 March 2026,” Revi explained.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi predicted that the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow will peak on 18 March 2026.

He said the government has prepared personnel as well as facilities and infrastructure to facilitate and secure vehicle traffic during the 2026 Eid homecoming period.
