ADB assists RI, Pakistan

MANILA (Reuter): The Asian Development Bank said yesterday it
had approved a US$25.7 million soft loan to five Indonesian
provinces for relending to small entrepreneurs.

The Manila-based bank said the loan would benefit as many as
300,000 families in West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa
Tenggara and South Kalimantan and would create 156,000 jobs.

The bank has also approved an $860,000 grant to Pakistan to
help modernize its finance ministry.

The bank said the grant to the Economic Affairs and Statistics
Division of the Ministry of Finance would help upgrade procedures
and improve the "quality and management of information on foreign
assistance."
