ADB assists RI health care

MANILA (UPI): The Asian Development Bank has approved an US$840,000 technical assistance grant for Indonesia's reproductive health care program, Bank officials said yesterday.

The grant will help Indonesia in strengthening reproductive health care services and information, and education and communications in priority areas.

The program aims to treat malnutrition of mothers, and spread information on topics ranging from tract infections to sexually transmitted diseases.

The program, which will be carried out by Indonesia's Ministry of Health, will be implemented in three phases over 12 months, providing adequate time for research, training needs assessment, and finally a program of action, the ADB said.

An international health care expert will be selected to work as technical advisor to an Indonesian consulting firm.
