ADB approves US$180m RI loan

MANILA (AFP): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said Thursday it has approved a US$180 million loan to Indonesia for the improvement of higher education.

The loan will go to a project for the restructuring of higher education management through improved governance, autonomy, accountability and accreditation, the Manila-based ADB said in a statement.

The program includes the upgrading of information technology and English language education.

The project, which is expected to be completed by the end of December 2006, will benefit an estimated 20,000 unemployed and underemployed graduates and their families, the ADB added.
