ADB approves loan to RI

MANILA (AFP): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said yesterday
it had approved a 50-million-dollar loan to a project to improve
the health and living conditions of urban residents in Indonesia.

The loan will go to a project to reduce morbidity rates caused
by waterborne diseases and lower the rates of infant mortality in
cities, the bank said in a statement here.

Indonesia's cities are growing at 4.5 percent annually and it
is estimated that by 2000 more than 40 percent of the population
will live in cities, the development bank said.
