Adapting to Industry Change, UNM's Management Programme Promotes Digital-Based Learning
JAKARTA – Rapid technological change, digital transformation and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) are pushing universities to adjust the competencies of their graduates. In response to these challenges, the Management Programme at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), a Digital Business Campus, is directing its teaching to remain relevant to the needs of modern business and industry.
Instianti Elyana, Head of the Management Programme at Universitas Nusa Mandiri, emphasised the importance of linking the campus curriculum with industry realities. According to her, students must be equipped not only with conceptual theory, but also with critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to real situations.
“Students need learning that connects with developments in the business and industrial world. Therefore, they must be equipped not only with theory, but also with the ability to think, adapt and apply knowledge in real situations,” she said in a press release received on Monday (14/9/2026).
She explained that the business world has shifted significantly towards the digital. The use of data for decision-making, digital marketing and the application of AI technology have become core parts of company operations.
This situation requires management graduates to have cross-disciplinary understanding. Students must not only master basic management concepts, but also understand the impact of technology on marketing, human resources, finance and new business development.
“Management students do not have to become programmers. But they must understand how technology is used to create value and improve business processes,” said Instianti.
To support this, UNM’s Management Programme has aligned its curriculum through applicable learning materials. Students are invited to analyse real business cases from various industry scales, while actively participating in practical campus activities such as entrepreneurship projects and student organisations.
“This approach focuses on strengthening technical competencies and soft skills, from communication and collaboration to leadership. This vision is reinforced through a curriculum covering Marketing Management, Digital Entrepreneurship, Business Modelling, and Business Law and Ethics,” she affirmed.
Workforce readiness is determined not only by mastery of current technology, but by the ability to keep learning. Relevant management education is expected to serve as the main foundation for students to remain adaptive amid future shifts in industry.
