AdamAir hires ST Aero

JAKARTA: Adam Sky Connection Airlines (AdamAir) -- an Indonesian budget airline operational since December 2003 -- has signed a five-year contract with aircraft maintenance provider Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aero) for the maintenance of its Boeing 737s.

"ST Aero will provide maintenance and spare-part replacement in the regular 4,000-hour checks of our planes (usually after flying for one-and-a-half years), while we will handle daily maintenance by ourselves," AdamAir chief executive Adam Adhitya Suherman said, adding that the contract's value would depend on its length and the cost of parts.

He said the company had decided to assign ST Aero due to its quality service and for reasons of proximity, which would mean that it could avoid grounding its airplanes for maintenance for too long.

ST Aero is a global airline maintenance, repair and overhaul company owned by Singapore Technologies Engineering and the Singapore state-owned enterprise Temasek Group, with customers ranging from FedEx to the Republic of Singapore Air Force. -- JP/003
