Adam A.R. improved his performance over the previous series to take the fifth series of the A Mild pool competition by defeating local hopeful Hadi S. 9-2 in the final here on Wednesday.

Adam, who finished runner-up in the fourth series in Jakarta a couple of week ago, took home the first prize of Rp 9 million (US$1 million), while Hadi was received Rp 4 million.

"I'm happy that I won this series. The competition was very tight," Adam said after the match at the Galaxi Billiard Sport House.

"Hadi is a good player. The fact that I was able to produce my best form at the start gave me confidence throughout the game," Adam said.

Adam advanced to the final after pulling off a narrow 9-8 win over Robby Suarli of West Sumatra in the quarterfinals and stopping the giant-killing Widi Harsoyo 9-7 in the semifinals.

In the second round, Widi had taken the scalp of national player Siawieto, Indonesia's hopeful for the next World Pool Championship in Chinese Taipei next week.

Hadi secured his place in the final after booking wins over two fellow Yogyakartans. He chalked a 7-7 win over Jakarta series winner Heru Gunawan before overcoming Deny S. 9-6.

The players will now head to Palembang, South Sumatra, for the sixth series from July 24 to July 27. The seventh series will be held in Medan from Sept. 11 to Sept. 14, while the grand final will be in Jakarta on Nov. 15 and Nov. 16.
