Adam Deni Requests Restorative Justice in Shop House Vandalism Case, Police Respond

Social media activist Adam Deni Gearaka, also known as ADG (30), reportedly submitted a request for restorative justice after being named a suspect in a case of vandalising a shop house in the Cilincing area of North Jakarta. “During the examination process, the suspect admitted to all his actions and submitted a request for restorative justice,” said Polda Metro Jaya Public Relations Head, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in his statement on Sunday (21/6). However, Budi stated that the acts of vandalism committed by Adam Deni were unlawful actions that must be processed professionally. “Nevertheless, we emphasise that even though the motive was triggered by a personal dispute, resolving the problem by intimidating with a weapon and damaging public property is an unlawful act that must be processed professionally,” he said. Previously, the North Jakarta Metro Police named Adam Deni Gearaka, alias ADG (30), as a suspect in the shop house vandalism case in Cilincing, North Jakarta. Adam Deni has now been officially detained. The vandalism reportedly occurred on Wednesday (17/6) at around 8.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time at the Yummy Coin Shop House on Jalan Terusan Kelapa Hybrida, Sukapura, Cilincing, North Jakarta. At that time, Adam Deni arrived at the victim’s business premises and forced his way in. The suspect then unilaterally carried out acts of vandalism, causing a number of damages. These included the shop’s billboard, a gypsum partition wall, and shop house property such as chairs and sanitation facilities. Not only that, Adam Deni also intimidated the shop house security guard by showing an airsoft gun tucked in his waistband, aiming to have his demands met. The action continued on Thursday (18/6) at around 7.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, when the suspect returned to the location and damaged the exterior of the victim’s parked car. Upon receiving a report from employees and security personnel, Cilincing Police Sector officers immediately went to the location to secure the suspect procedurally without any physical altercation. In this case, the police have examined seven witnesses, reviewed CCTV footage, and seized one airsoft gun unit. For his actions, Adam Deni is charged under Article 521 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding the destruction of another person’s property.
