Social media personality Adam Deni Gearaka (30) has been named a suspect after allegedly vandalising a shop in Cilincing, North Jakarta, while brandishing a firearm. He faces multiple charges, including one that carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

“The suspect is charged under Article 306 of the 2023 Criminal Code regarding possession of an object suspected to be a firearm, and also the article on vandalism, namely Article 521 of the 2023 Criminal Code,” said North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigation, AKP Bima Sakti, to reporters on Monday.

Bima explained that Adam Deni faces a 2.5-year prison sentence for the vandalism and a 15-year sentence for the firearm possession. The victim suffered material losses of up to Rp 15 million.

Police also revealed the motive behind Adam Deni’s actions. Bima stated that the suspect was upset because the shop owner had allegedly said something to his female friend, a former employee of the shop. “The suspect, ADG, was emotional towards the shop owner because his close friend had a problem with the owner,” Bima said. “He did not accept this and went to the scene, damaging property and threatening other witnesses.”

Investigators are still looking into Adam Deni’s statements. He has now been officially named a suspect. The case began when police received a report from a business owner about the destruction of facilities on Wednesday (17/6). Adam Deni reportedly arrived at the ‘Yummy Coin’ shop on Jalan Terusan Kelapa Hybrida, Sukapura, and forced his way in. He then damaged the shop’s billboard, broke through a gypsum partition wall, and destroyed other property including chairs and sanitation facilities. During the incident, he also intimidated a security guard by showing an airsoft gun tucked in his waistband. The suspect returned the following evening, Thursday (18/6), and damaged the victim’s parked car. Officers from the Cilincing Police Sector responded to the report and arrested Adam Deni without physical confrontation before transferring the case to the North Jakarta Metro Police.
