Adam Deni Faces 15-Year Prison Threat After Airsoft Gun Intimidation and Property Damage

Social media personality Adam Deni Gearaka, 30, is in legal trouble once again after damaging a shop in North Jakarta and brandishing an airsoft gun to intimidate the owner. Police arrested Deni following the incident on 17 June at the Yummy Coin shop on Jalan Terusan Kelapa Hybrida, Sukapura, Cilincing. The victim, the shop owner, reported the matter via the 110 emergency service after Deni also damaged his parked car the following day. Officers arrived at the scene, examined evidence, and interviewed eight witnesses before taking Deni into custody. “We have secured one suspected perpetrator, identified as ADM, who is now being held at the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters,” said the deputy chief of the criminal investigation unit. Police also seized an airsoft gun allegedly used by Deni to threaten people at the location. “We secured a firearm, or what we can analyse as an airsoft gun, which was carried or controlled by the suspect,” the officer stated. During questioning, Deni claimed his actions were driven by anger after the shop owner scolded his close female friend, a former employee of the shop. “He did not accept it. His friend felt she was scolded and shouted at by the owner. That is why he went to the crime scene,” the officer explained. Deni reportedly lifted his shirt to reveal the airsoft gun tucked behind his back and said, “Do you know what this is?” to threaten a witness. He told police he brought the weapon purely out of emotion and to intimidate. Deni has been charged under Article 306 of the 2023 Criminal Code for possessing a dangerous object suspected to be a firearm, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, and Article 521 for property damage, which carries up to 2.5 years. The victim suffered losses estimated at 15 million rupiah. Police confirmed they have not received any request for restorative justice from Deni or his legal representatives. Deni was previously sentenced to four years in prison and fined 1 billion rupiah in 2022 for illegally uploading confidential documents belonging to a member of parliament, and was released on parole in August 2025.
