Indonesian Hajj Dam Payments Management Receives Direct Praise from Saudi Authorities

The administration of dam payments for Indonesian haj pilgrims this year has received direct appreciation from Saudi authorities. The official Adahi Project is viewed as the key to a more orderly dam governance framework that is more transparent, safe, and accountable for Indonesian pilgrims.

Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, described this achievement as an important milestone in the history of Indonesia’s hajj operations. Data on dam payments by Indonesian pilgrims via official channels has been praised by the Ministry of Hajj of Saudi Arabia.

To date, around 80,000 Indonesian pilgrims have made dam payments in the Holy Land through the official Adahi Project. Meanwhile, around 20,000 pilgrims have completed dam payments in Indonesia.

“This is the first time in the management of Indonesian hajj dam. Our dam payment data has received praise from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj,” Dahnil said in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, as reported by Kemenhaj.

According to him, this achievement has not occurred in previous years and is a positive note for the governance of hajj in Indonesia in the eyes of the Saudi government.

Government Facilitates Differences in Fiqh Views

Dahnil emphasised that the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah respects the diversity of fiqh views in society regarding the performance of dam.

For pilgrims who believe dam can be carried out domestically, in line with the views of the Majelis Tarjih dan Tajdid Muhammadiyah and several other scholars, the government allows dam to be carried out in Indonesia in accordance with the provisions.

Meanwhile, for pilgrims who believe dam must be carried out in Tanah Haram, in line with the views of Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) and some scholars, the government facilitates through an official body licensed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, namely the Adahi Project.

“Principally, the government does not enter the fiqh debate. The state is present to facilitate, protect, and ensure pilgrims can fulfil the obligation of dam in accordance with their beliefs in a safe, official, and accountable manner,” Dahnil said.

Through Hajj Servicing Officers (PPIH), the Ministry ensures that the dam and sacrifice payment mechanism is now easier and more transparent. This step also protects pilgrims from transactions with parties lacking official licenses.
