Actor Benidictus Siregar says he still gets called Juna from Sekawan Limo

Jakarta — Comedian Benidictus Siregar says his role as Juna in the film Sekawan Limo (2024) has opened the door for him to be better known to the public as a feature film actor. The introduction of the character from Sekawan Limo 1, up to now many still call him Juna, Juna, Juna, according to Beni, when he was met after the press conference for the screening of Sekawan Limo 2: Gunung Klawih in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Wednesday. The Yogyakarta-born man, who began his career as a national-level stand-up comedian, believes the popularity of the Juna character has become attached in the hearts of millions of Indonesian cinema-goers. The nickname carries a heavy responsibility, according to Beni. He feels he must maintain good acting while presenting the naïve Jawa youth persona of the character in the sequel. During the process of guarding the humour of the character for the Sekawan Limo sequel titled Sekawan Limo 2: Gunung Klawih, Beni says he received new help from Joshua Suherman as the film’s comedy consultant. “That is Joshua’s hard work; he also chats with us. Although the comedy consultant is Jojo (Joshua), Jojo always collects ideas from us, and he decides which jokes will be used,” he said. The smoothness of the filming process was also helped because they already know each other very well with Bayu Skak as the film’s director. “I had also helped out with Yo Wis Ben in several films and series, so I already had a better understanding. If something crosses my mind, I will directly voice my idea,” said Beni. The intensive interaction between actors and directors that can take place openly, Beni says, is very helpful in building a pleasant working atmosphere during the production. Beni feels that such closeness makes it easier to align the character in front of the camera and to build chemistry with the character played by actress Elsa Japasal. The year 2026 may only be halfway through, but Beni already has a string of films ready for release in cinemas through the year, including Sekawan Limo 2: Gunung Klawih which is scheduled for 27 May.
