Activists reported for defamation
ROKAN HULU, Riau: The Regent of Rokan Hulu, Ramlan Zas Datuk Tumenggung, on Wednesday reported several anti-graft activists to police for alleged defamation. The official report was handed over by Ramlan's lawyer, Abdul Haris Rusli, to the deputy chief of Rokan Hulu police Adj. Sr. Comr. Budi Susilo at the latter's office.
The regent was enraged by comments by certain anti-graft activists in the media, who accused him of embezzling some Rp 33 billion (US$3.7 million) of public money.
The anti-graft activists in questions were, among others, Refrizal, the chairman of Rokan Hulu Community Alliance and Emrizal Tambusai, the chairman of Care Riau Discussion Forum. -- JP
