Activist wants probe into alleged graft

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: A local activist demanded on Tuesday that prosecutors immediately investigate an alleged markup in the renovation of Aceh provincial secretary's official residence at the cost of Rp 1.4 billion (US$ 155,555).

Rufriadi, the coordinator of Judicial Watch, said that the money came from the Aceh state budget of 2002 and 2003.

The activist said that he suspected corruption in the renovation, as he heard from local developers that the cost of the renovation would not exceed Rp 700 million. -- Antara
