JAYAPURA, Papua: Trikora Military Commander Maj. Gen. Nurdin
Zainal has filed a complaint against Latifah Hanum Siregar, the
director of the Democratic Alliance for Papua (ALDP), alleging
defamation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the two-star general
demanded that the democracy activist withdraw her recent
statement to the media that Indonesian Military (TNI) personnel
had committed human rights abuses in Wamena and Demta in the
province.

The general gave Latifah one month to comply with the demand,
and if she failed to meet the demand, the TNI would bring the
case to court, according to the statement. -- JP
