Acting Jampidsus: Febrie Adriansyah Case Handled Without Favouritism

The Attorney General, ST Burhanuddin, has issued firm instructions regarding the handling of the corruption cases that have ensnared Febrie Adriansyah, the former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, according to Rudi Margono, who is currently acting in the role. The Attorney General has asked that all these matters be resolved professionally and humanely.

Three major cases are now the focus of handling following their transfer by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipidkor).

The cases include alleged corruption and money laundering in the coal supply project for power plants owned by PT PLN, alleged collusion in the handling of the PT ASABRI (Persero) corruption case, and the settlement of debts between PT CBS and KNI.

Rudi stressed that the Attorney General has instructed that the legal process proceed within the corridor of professionalism, even though these matters involve a former high-ranking official within the Prosecutor’s Corps.

“It will be handled professionally,” Rudi said in Jakarta on Saturday (11 January).

Beyond professionalism, ST Burhanuddin also emphasised the importance of a humane approach at every stage of the investigation. This is intended to ensure that law enforcement not only provides certainty but also continues to respect the rights of the individuals involved.

“This is not only about this case; every case must be handled professionally so that it is more beneficial for law enforcement, but it must also be more humane because it upholds the principle of presumption of innocence,” Rudi continued, quoting the Attorney General’s instructions.

The transfer of the cases from the National Police to the Attorney General’s Office came after Febrie Adriansyah was named a suspect by the police. The move is a test of the transparency and integrity of the Attorney General’s Office in thoroughly investigating alleged violations within its own institution. (Z-10)
