We are more familiar with the acronym PBB, which stands for
the United Nations Organization, than UNO. That is, as far as I
know, the only name of a foreign organization that has been
translated.

ASEAN, AFTA, NAFTA, ILO and UNESCO remain unchanged in our
media.

I would propose to the language experts in charge of
safeguarding Bahasa Indonesia to convert international and
regional names of organizations, which are usually in English,
into Indonesian and to create suitable acronyms for practical
use.
