Acknowledging Unresolved Waste Issues, Pramono Adds 20 New Trucks to Clear Mountain of Rubbish in Kramat Jati
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, has acknowledged that waste issues in several areas of the capital have not been fully resolved. He assured that the volume of rubbish that had piled up at various points is gradually decreasing due to interventions by the DKI Provincial Government, such as the mountain of rubbish at Kramat Jati Market in East Jakarta.
“The waste issue is indeed not entirely finished yet. But the rubbish in Kramat Jati and at several temporary disposal sites is starting to decrease,” said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (1/4).
He did not deny that waste handling still requires time. In Kramat Jati, he added 20 new trucks to help reduce the rubbish.
“It’s true that not everything has been resolved. For example, in Kramat Jati, yesterday we specifically added 20 new trucks to reduce it. It might take a little more time before it’s fully resolved,” he stated.
This is because the conditions at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) are also not fully normal yet. Pramono mentioned that operations in one of the zones are still experiencing limitations.
“For Bantargebang, it’s indeed not normal yet. Zone 4A is not normal,” he revealed.
Nevertheless, he assured that the restrictions that were previously imposed are now being gradually relaxed. The volume of incoming rubbish is also said to show a downward trend.
“The main point is it’s not normal yet, but it’s decreasing. There are still restrictions, but the condition is much better,” he emphasised.
