JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) is pushing for the United Nations to conduct an investigation into the case of the fallen TNI soldiers in Lebanon, even though it is not an easy matter.

SBY conveyed this while responding to the deaths of three TNI soldiers in Lebanon due to an Israeli attack.

“I know that investigations in highly dynamic combat situations are often not easy. However, they can still be carried out in the hope that the results will be reasonable and acceptable (acceptable, believable narrative),” SBY stated on his X account on Sunday (5/4/2026).

While still holding the rank of Brigadier General of the TNI, SBY served as the Head of UN Military Observers.

“We often conducted investigations into ceasefire violations,” he said.

Although aware of how difficult the investigation is, SBY continues to urge the UN to carry it out seriously and honestly.

“Indonesia deserves that. The UN (primarily UNIFIL) with full responsibility must be able to explain why a series of consecutive incidents resulting in the deaths and injuries of Indonesian peacekeepers have occurred,” SBY added.
