Acid Attack Perpetrators on Andrie Yunus Show Injuries from Liquid Splatter

JAKARTA - The defendants in the case of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, namely Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko and First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, showed injuries sustained from splashes of the mixture of rust cleaner and battery acid. This was revealed during the defendant examination session in the courtroom of the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. In the case, there are four TNI BAIS members, namely Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka. “Permission, I, the second defendant, was hit on the right arm, left arm at the tip and base,” Budhi replied. Budhi then showed the part of his arm affected by the liquid to the military prosecutor and the panel of judges in the courtroom. “Permission, hand, face, neck, and chest,” Edi replied. Edi was then asked to stand and lift his shirt to show the acid splash scars to the military prosecutor and the panel of judges. Edi’s chest and neck area showed discolouration to black due to the liquid splash. The four defendants, namely Sergeant Two Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka, were motivated by feeling offended by Andrie Yunus for interrupting at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel on 16 March 2025. The four defendants are charged with layered articles, namely Article 469 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 Paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 Paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023.
