The revelation of the acid attack case against human rights activist Andrie Yunus is marred by differences in data between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) regarding the identities of the alleged perpetrators. Nevertheless, both institutions have stated that they will align their findings during the investigation process.

TNI Military Police Centre Commander Major General Yusri Nuryanto revealed that four soldiers allegedly involved are initialled Captain NDP, Lieutenant SL, Lieutenant BHW, and Sergeant ES.

However, Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Regional Police Commissioner Iman Imanuddin mentioned different initials, namely BHC and MAK.

In response to the differences, Iman said that Metro Jaya Regional Police and TNI will collaborate on all investigation findings in a joint probe.

“Metro Jaya Regional Police, together with TNI, will integrate the investigation and prosecution facts. We are confident that we both have a commitment to uncover this case transparently based on legal facts,” said Iman during a press conference at Metro Jaya Regional Police on Tuesday (18/3).

He emphasised that this commitment aligns with President Prabowo’s instructions for the case to be handled transparently and accountably.

“As per the President’s instructions to uncover this case transparently based on legal facts obtained in the investigation and prosecution processes by each party,” he stated.

On the same occasion, the Chair of House of Representatives Commission III reminded law enforcement officials not to rule out the possibility of other parties being involved in the case.

“Our message as supervisors is for Polri and investigators to carry out their duties properly. Uncover the facts. Whether there are civilians or not, that will emerge in the investigation process. So, do not close off possibilities, whether it’s all civilians or all TNI, do not close it like that,” he said.

He stressed that whoever is involved, whether the main perpetrators, those who ordered, planned, or assisted, must be held criminally accountable.

“Just carry out the investigation duties. The incident is clear; now deepen who played what role. The point is, whoever is involved, whether ordering, planning, executing, or assisting the execution, must be held accountable,” he concluded.
