Achmad Bakrie Award XXII 2026 Returns, 4 Inspirational Figures Receive Prestigious Award
The Achmad Bakrie Award returned in 2026 for its 22nd edition. This year, the event once again recognised four Indonesian figures deemed to have made tangible contributions in their respective fields.
Carrying the theme “Real Action for Indonesia”, the Achmad Bakrie Award XXII 2026 formed part of the 84th anniversary journey of Bakrie Group. The theme reflects the spirit of the award recipients who have produced works, ideas, innovations, and service that have had an impact on society.
The four recipients honoured this year come from the fields of Science & Technology, Health, Social Thought, and Arts & Culture.
They are Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, B.Eng., M.Eng., Ph.D.; Prof. drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D.; Prof. Dr. K.H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si.; and Butet Kartaredjasa.
In the field of Science & Technology, the award was presented to Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo.
He is an Indonesian scientist known as a pioneer of Circularly Polarized Synthetic Aperture Radar (CP-SAR) technology and microwave remote sensing technology.
The technology developed by Prof. Josaphat encompasses applications for drones, aircraft, High Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS), and microsatellites. The technology has also been adopted by industry and aerospace institutions worldwide.
Meanwhile, the Health award was presented to Prof. drg. Ika Dewi Ana.
She is known as a pioneer of tissue engineering and medical bioceramics in Indonesia. One of her key works is Gama-CHA, a carbonate apatite-based bone graft that has become one of the innovations in the field of tissue regeneration.
Gama-CHA has obtained marketing authorisation from the Ministry of Health and is produced on a mass scale. The innovation is considered a form of contribution to the development of health solutions that can be produced domestically.
For the field of Social Thought, the Achmad Bakrie Award XXII was presented to Prof. Dr. K.H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si.
Haedar Nashir is an Indonesian intellectual known for his thinking on moderation and progressive Islam. His ideas and work have become part of the social discourse within Indonesia’s diverse society.
