Acha Conducts Research to Deepen Role in 'My Husband Lukaku'

Actress Acha Septriasa has admitted conducting extensive research on the character she portrays in the film ‘My Husband Lukaku’.

As Amina, she highlighted preparing by delving into the issue of domestic violence (KDRT), which is highest in Pangkal Pinang city, as raised by the writer.

“I needed to thoroughly understand the writer’s research on what happens in Pangkal Pinang, a city with high domestic violence rates,” Acha said during a visit to ANTARA News Agency in Jakarta on Monday.

This, she explained, helped her grasp Amina’s psychological state.

Co-starring with Baim Wong, who plays her husband in the film, Acha said she faced no difficulties as she has known him for a long time.

“Baim is very sociable and easygoing,” she added, noting his presence made her performance more natural.

Acha described Amina as a woman who frequently endures abuse in her marriage to Irfan.

It emerged that Amina was forced into marriage with Irfan despite not wanting to wed.

“Her father pressured her to marry a man he approved of, so she reluctantly entered the marriage,” she explained.

“Many Indonesian women experience domestic violence within their households, and I want to raise awareness about it to help people escape toxic relationships,” she added.

The mother of one also confirmed her interest in the story, leading her to join the film directed by Sharad Sharan and Viva Westi, scheduled for release on 27 May 2026.
