Acer launches two smart glasses offering AR visuals and AI features
Acer enters the smart glasses market with two new devices: the Acer AR Vision GR0 and Acer GI0. The AR Vision GR0 is designed to deliver augmented reality visual experiences via two Micro OLED displays with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. Acer claims the display is equivalent to watching a 172-inch screen from approximately six metres away. The device supports a colour gamut of up to 95% DCI-P3 and a contrast ratio of 50,000:1. To maintain a lightweight weight of 69 grams, the glasses lack an internal processor and must connect to other devices such as smartphones, laptops, or computers. Acer states the AR Vision GR0 is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows operating systems. It also features near-ear speakers, 3 Degree of Freedom (3DoF) flexibility, and magnetic prescription lens support for glasses-wearers. Meanwhile, the Acer GI0 features a lighter design at 46 grams and operates wirelessly via Wi-Fi 5 or Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity to smartphones. The GI0 also includes a 12MP camera capable of capturing photos up to 4,032 x 3,024 pixels and recording 1080p Full HD video at 30 frames per second. Additionally, it features three microphones, 32GB of internal storage, and the Acer AspireSync companion app for device configuration. However, its battery life is limited due to a 217mAh capacity. Acer has scheduled the launch of both devices in North America, Europe, and Australia by the end of 2026. The Acer AR Vision GR0 is priced from $499.99 (Rp8.8 million) in the US, €599 (Rp12.4 million) in Europe, and A$999 (Rp12.7 million) in Australia. Meanwhile, the Acer GI0 starts at $299.99 (Rp5.3 million), €399 (Rp8.2 million), and A$599 (Rp7.6 million). Most regions will begin receiving both smart glasses in the fourth quarter of 2026, with Australia set to receive them three months earlier than other areas.
