Aceh's irrigation need repair
Aceh's irrigation need repair

Members of the Indonesian Military are still stationed at Cot
Trieng, Muara Dua, North Aceh and help the local community in
spiritual and health areas.
With the signing of the agreement on the cessation of
hostilities between the Indonesian government and the Free Aceh
Movement (GAM), the Indonesian soldiers have adopted a family
approach so that the locals can freely go to the rice fields and
the mosques. When they are sick, they will get help from the
Indonesian soldiers stationed in their village.
This conducive atmosphere must be maintained. The army
engineering detachment can help and work together with locals to
repair the local irrigation. The funds can be taken from the
regional or state budget.
Back in 1968-1970 the Aceh military region undertook this job
under its Water Operation and today, 25 years later, the
irrigation works are still operational. It is a pity that many
irrigation facilities built by the public works ministry in 1973
have now been damaged or destroyed by floods.
Legislators of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam's legislative assembly
and the Iskandar Muda military regional command may study this
matter and ensure that it will be applied in the whole province.
