Aceh's Fatih Bilingual School Joins National 'Sekolah Garuda Transformasi' Programme
SMA Fatih Bilingual School in Aceh has officially joined the national ‘Sekolah Garuda Transformasi’ programme, marking a significant step in strengthening world-class secondary education in Indonesia. The programme, initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, is designed to build a pipeline of future leaders equipped with academic excellence, strong character, and global competitiveness in line with the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.
The school’s journey began in the aftermath of the devastating 2004 tsunami, when Yayasan Fatih Indonesia and international humanitarian volunteers established the institution to restore educational access for Aceh’s children. Since then, it has grown into a leading school, achieving the status of a Sekolah Pendidikan Kerja Sama (SPK) in 2017 by integrating the National Curriculum with the Cambridge Curriculum.
As part of the Sekolah Garuda Transformasi programme, SMA Fatih Bilingual School will strengthen its focus on STEM education through project-based learning, digital technology, and a robust research culture. The initiative also aims to enhance teacher competencies, expand partnerships with universities and industry, and foster student talents to prepare them for admission to top global universities.
Headmaster Sudarman stated that the selection is a recognition of the school’s long-standing commitment to quality education and a mandate to further develop an innovative and adaptive learning environment. The programme is built on three pillars: equitable access to quality education, nurturing future leaders in science and technology, and integrating excellent education with community service.
